YOUNG WIDOWS & WIDOWERS THERAPY GROUP

Young widows and widowers have unique issues that are addressed most successfully when  shared with others who really understand - other young widows and widowers. This group is an ongoing weekly therapy group where widows and widowers under the age of 60 can meet to share their feelings, hopes, fears, and work towards finding their path in adjusting to life after losing their spouse. How Group Works

The Young Widows and Widowers Group will consist of two phases:

Phase One is an eight week structured therapeutic group that has specific topics and is closed, meaning members should commit to the full eight weeks and new members can only start during week one. Make-up meetings may be available in subsequent sessions for absences that could not be avoided. This eight week phase will enable members to understand grief, to work through many of the feelings they are experiencing, and to begin to heal and set future goals.

Phase Two is an open ended support group that is slightly less structured with topics to allow for continued exploration of the grieving process. This format allows members to continue to come to group for as long as they require and then to gradually reduce their attendance as needed. Members can only join Phase Two groups after they have completed all eight weeks of Phase One.
